Opportunities to hone your skills

The Human Resource Services team supports training programs for all Capital Planning and Facilities staff. Training programs range from craft apprenticeships and safety programs to leadership and employee development. Training programs with external vendors are also available.

Human Resource Services partners with the following organizations to deliver targeted and productive trainings:

  • IU Training and Organization Development
  • IU Employee Relations and AFSCME Local 832
  • IU Environmental Health and Safety, IOSHA, and OSHA
  • Joint Apprenticeship Committee and U.S. Department of Labor–Office of Apprenticeships

Recruitment and selection

All openings for the IU Apprenticeship Program (IUAP) can be found on the Jobs at IU website. To find these openings, search for staff positions on the IU Bloomington campus and search by the job category “Facilities/Skilled Trades.”

The minimum requirements for IUAP apprenticeships will be listed in the job posting, though you must be at least 18 years old and have either a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED) for all jobs. Applicants will be required to complete a WorkKeys assessment as part of the application process.
